I was surfing the net for some interesting or informative articles about weddings when I came across this article from CakeWrecks.Blogspot.com who found the originating post at: UglyDress.com. I copied and pasted the original post at the end of this blog for those of you who don't want to visit the originating site - I know I'm so thoughtful, right?

The inspiration cake shown above definitely has a UNIQUE and ORIGINAL look. From all the weddings I have attended, I have never seen a wedding cake quite like it.
However, if it suites the brides theme- I guess it could POSSIBLY work.

This is what the bride and groom received on their wedding day from their "Professional" Baker.
Now Just imagine walking into your wedding and seeing all the fruits of your labor. All the beautiful flowers, the gorgeous centerpieces and then your eyes fall onto this monstrosity. This cakenstein.
Well I guess I am being a bit harsh. The baker did use a similar color scheme and create some sort of plaid motif. Maybe the bride and groom should have been more descriptive. Should the baker know they didn't want a lopsided wedding cake with a hole in it? Maybe the baker thought the inspiration cake was a bit too formal and stuffy for an outdoors wedding and decided to dress it down a bit.
Hmm...I think next time I need a cake for a special occassion from a baker who claims to be a "professional", I'd want to see previous work and recommendations. I'll probably also specify - no artistic freedom! Or...I'll do what most people do and go to a bakery.

"My friend Lynda is totally cool. She is the type of person who can pick out the best stuff. The picture you see above was a photograph of a wedding cake that she wanted for her wedding.
I don't know where Lynda got the photo, but it looks pretty neat and with her colors and flowers it was going to be a smash hit. As complex as the pattern looks at first, when you really think about it, it is just a serious of straight ribbons laced together. I think the design is great.
Unfortunately, Lynda didn't consider that her baker might make some promises that she couldn't keep. In fact, it seems like Lynda's baker was more interested in Rum Cake than Wedding cake. Click on the small picture to see what Lynda's actual cake ended up looking like. This photo is from her ACTUAL reception. This pile of cake had to sit in front everyone during the reception. Lynda spent the first year of her marriage in the courtroom suing a drunk baker. Ouch." - Provided by Summer from Texas
