What Is The Best Day, Month, Season To Get Married?

Do you know what is the first step a bride and groom must settle on before any other tasks when planning their wedding? If you said pick a wedding date, then you are correct! Choosing the right wedding date is crucial to a successful wedding. Selecting a wedding date is not as easy as it may seem. There are many factors to take into account when determining the best possible wedding date such as venue availability, weather, holidays, and many more.

Setting a wedding date a year or two in advance is difficult when you have to consider the schedules of everyone important to you. Work, school, birthdays, graduations, vacations and other obligations may prevent people important to you from attending your wedding. You must consider their schedule if you want the most important people in your life to attend your wedding.

Although you may initially think it is a good idea for your wedding to land on a long weekend it may be very inconvenient for some guests who already have plans. Try to set a date that does not fall on a holiday weekend. Many guests may have planned vacations or have other events they are already attending. Don't put your guests in an awkward situation and make them pick between their vacation and your wedding.

It is a good idea to think about conflicts with your wedding anniversary date. Will it fall too close to the bride or groom's birthdays? Is a holiday just a few days away? If you plan on celebrating your anniversary with another holiday to combine vacation times then you need to plan ahead. If you rather have all your events spaced apart to make sure you receive a gift for each event then make sure your wedding date doesn't fall near your birthday, Christmas or Valentine's Day.

Getting married in the most popular months may cause challenges. Finding available vendors and venues may be difficult and their prices may be higher as well. Not only will you have to pay more for the same services but the vendor you planned on using may already be booked. If you have a wedding venue that you have your heart on using, pick a date that the venue has available and also includes all your other wedding date criteria.

The high season for weddings are between May and September. Getting married in one of the off months gives you more opportunities to choose venues and negotiate for better prices. Vendors will be competing for your business in the slower months so you are bound to receive better service and attention.

Saturdays are the most popular day to get married so be prepared to compete with other brides for the same venues and services. Although Saturdays are the most convenient for your guests, you have to deal with availability and cost. The next best days to get married are Fridays and Sundays. If you plan to have a day wedding Sunday may be a good option. Having a day wedding on Friday may prevent most of your guests from attending due to work and school obligations. For a night time wedding guest may prefer Friday rather than Sunday. Sunday night weddings may cause guests to leave early to prepare for work the next day.

Another factor when planning your wedding is the weather. Consider the location of your wedding. Does it have very cold winters, very warm summers, or a long rainy season? Having an outdoors wedding with rain and snow on the forecast can cause a lot of added stress to an already strained bride. Having a wedding on an extremely hot day can also cause knots. Guests will be sweltering in the heat after getting all dressed up for your wedding. Not to mention the upset guests who are wearing suits in 100 degree weather. Make-up that you paid hundreds of dollars for will be melted and replaced with dollops of sweat.

The point is there is no wedding date without its challenges. Whichever date you finally settle on will have its pros and cons. Consider all the factors and choose a wedding date that is based on your needs. There is no one wedding date, wedding month, or wedding season that is best to get married in. The best date to get married is what ever you and your fiance decide together.
Talk About It. When do you think is the best day, month, season to get married?
